How to approve my news site in Google News?

For those who haven't read my previous blog, let me make a small recap of what I have done few weeks ago.

I have created few websites and 2 of them are the main protagonist of this article, I shall named them as website F and website O here before they are approved by Google AdSense.


Just like all my previous websites, website F and O are also the blogging website setup on Blogger that has been supported by Google since the latter acquired it decades ago.

So let's dive in right now and see how I apply for Google News Publihser for Blogger website O and website F.

Process to apply for Google News Publisher for Blogger

There are some tutorials that talk about Goole News Publihser Approval on Google search results and YouTube platform. I tried to follow the instruction showing in those articles and YouTube video to apply for Google News for both of these Blogger websites.

What I have done included but not limited to: create a Google News Publisher account, sign-up for a feedsburner account for Blogger websites, create and design square and horizontal logo for these websites, set up essential information about the websites and submit for these website for Google to review.

At first, I have not much hope about getting Google News approval for my Blogger website. Becasue it is extreme hard for beginners to pass Google AdSense's review to display Google-served ads, and I though that it will be the diffiuclt for Google News Publisher application.


However, I was wrong. I was totally wrong about the difficulty of Google News Publisher approval for Blogger website. It is way easier for everyone to get Google News Publihser approval compared to Google AdSense Approval.

I created different Google News Publihser account for each blog seperately because they are written in different language. I though that it was much better to seperate them for me to have more efficient way to manage these websites.

So when did I created Google News Publisher accounts? Well, I setup Google News account at noon of 22nd January 2022 and it took me about 5 days to receive a reply from Google.

Coicidentally, the moment these Blogger websites got their update from Google News Center was also the same moment Google AdSense rejected these websites. But that is a different story I'm going to talk about in other posts.

In the updates given by Google, Blogger website F was approved by Google News and the status of this website has been changed from "Review" to "Live" in Google News Publihser account.

When Google News approved Blogger website F, Google didn't sent any email or notification to my email account. Yes, they didn't send any email, I have check all the mails in my gmail, including all the spam mails but none of them are related to Google. So, you should be aware of this situation if you are going to apply or is applying for Google News for your website now.

Meanwhile, I have not only recieved one update from Google News, but two updates from Google to inform me about the application status of both the Blogger website F and websie O. 

Since my website F has been approved by Google News, do you think that both of them will be approved by Google as well? I have the same though in my mind but the truth was, Blogger website O was rejected by Google News.

You can see the status of the application I had submitted a week ago changed from "Pending" to "Rejected" as what I shown you in the screenshots above.

However, Google News Publihser center sent an email to my Gmail and provide the details of why they rejected my website to join Google News.

How to deal with Google News Rejection?

I was shocked of what I have seen in this email, they rejected my Blogger website O for Google News because of the logo displaying on my website is not identical to what I submitted to Google News when I was submitting the review application to Google News.

Google also provided me 2 images of why their rejection and they required me to fix the logo issue before submitting another review application to them.

After I inspect these 2 images, all I can conlude is that Google News rejected my website because I used italics on the logo while I have been using normal and stadard font for Blogger website O.


So now I have found the culprit and I just change the logo submitted to Google News with a logo with normal font. I should wait for another 5 to 6 days in order to recieve an approval from Google News after I submit my next application to them.

Endings

Since my Blogger website F has been approved by Google News, let me share some findings about having an approval of Google News Publisher on this Blogger website.

There are quite many rumours that if a website is approved by Google News, Google will index every blog posts or articles on this website instanlly or within few minutes. I was not sure about this rumor so I tried it out myself by writing and subsequenly publishing few articles on Blogger website F.


Guess what, instant indexing for Google News-approved website is not a rumour at all, all my blog posts were crawled and indexed by Google immediately without having me to perform URL submission using Google Search Console. 

Compare to the same website before it was approved by Google News, it took me few days or even 2 to 3 weeks just to let Google crawl and index few of my blog posts. Not to mention having many articles not being indexed by Google affect the speed to get Google AdSense approval for a new website, and many of us (especially beginners in blogging) have to deal with Discovered - Currently Not Indexed problem in Google Search Console as well.

So having a website that join Google News, it doesn't only provide a superb advantage of having instant indexing on every articles or blog posts published on a website, but now I also have no fear about Discovered-Currently Not Indexed problem anymore.
